A report is a device designed to explode harmlessly giving a loud noise. The word is usually used to describe a singular unit or units within a larger firework such as a cake, candle, mine, rocket or a shell, though some use of the word has been made describing singular exploding fireworks designed for use at ground level, otherwise known as ground salute. Historically reports have been made by confining black powder but in more recent history flash powders or whistle mix have come in to frequent use.
